MMA (Methal Methacralate) is a particularly harmful acrylic
which is banned in nail use in the USA. Unfortunately we have no legislation in the UK against this harmful and toxic product.
Most salons/Technicans will not admit to using MMA but here are some simple things to watch for:
Unusually strong or strange odour . Enhancements
that are extremely hard and bulky and are so hard to file that the technician
has to use an electric drill. Enhancements take up to two hours to soak off in solvents designed to remove them in 30 minutes
or less. Salons that consistently offer cheap nails that take an hour or less to apply.
ALWAYS ensure the technician
gives you a full consultation before proceeding with the enhancements
Ensure
that technician is using newly sterilised equipment between clients. Blood borne and other diseases are easily passed
on through dirty equipment
NEVER Let a
technician use an electric file on your natural nail bed
If in doubt,
ask your technician. A good technician will always be happy to answer any questions you have to put your mind at rest.
Enhancements
are meant to be enjoyed, not endured!
